The seven sacraments are the main expressions of the Church's life, and in the lives of the saints, we see the concrete effects of their power. This brief booklet accompanying Bishop Barron's new Sacraments study program was created to help you to come to a deeper understanding of these channels of grace through some of the great holy men and women of the Church, including Pope St. John Paul II and Sts. Louis and Zélie Martin, and to seek out the sacraments—and the holiness of life they produce—with renewed clarity and energy.Table of Contents Foreword i Baptism • St. Francis Xavier 1 Confirmation • St. John Paul II 11 The Eucharist • St. Clare of Assisi (and all saints) 21 Reconciliation • St. John Vianney 31 The Anointing of the Sick • St. Damien of Molokai 39 Matrimony • Sts. Bishop Barron on The Sacraments
The Leader's Guide includes the Facilitator’s Guide, all six lessons from the participant’s Study Guide, and an Answer Key for the Questions for Understanding. The Facilitator’s Guide details how to plan, promote, and present the study. Each workbook features a matte finish that is soft to the touch, non-glare, and scuff-resistant. Its flat binding is both sturdy and sleek, sure to withstand many uses, as well as look elegant on your bookshelf.
For group study, you can present the program in six or seven sessions of 60-90 minutes. Each session should include video viewing and group discussion of Study Guide questions. All study coordinators or group facilitators can also register for free training webinars.
Each lesson in the Guide provides detailed commentary on Bishop Barron’s video and “Questions for Understanding" based on the video, Scripture, and the Catechism of the Catholic Church. The “Questions for Application" in each lesson aid in connecting the material to our own lives and experiences.
